Risborough Rangers 0, Holyport 1

A host of clubs returned to competitive action this afternoon (Saturday), with step five level teams entering the FA Cup at the extra-preliminary round stage.

There were a couple of standout results, most notably for Holyport who secured a magnificent 1-0 win at Risborough Rangers courtesy of Ashley Hunt’s 37th minute strike.

Port battled well in the early stages and created a good chance for Christian Johnson in the 24th minute, the midfielder firing across the face of goal.

Last season’s top scorer Hunt fired the visitors ahead in the 37th minute and a good save from Giacobbe ensured that Port led at the break.

The hosts fired millimetres wide in the 70th minute but the visitors rode their luck and might have added to their lead, with Kickie Dzimba missing an excellent chance to make it 2-0 in the 80th minute.

They had to survive a nervy finish, as Risborough threw caution to the wind and pushed forward, but the Port defence held firm to book their place in the preliminary round and a game against Ascot United, who defeated Cribbs FC 2-1 at the Racecourse Ground last night (Friday).

The Risborough Rangers’ twitter account tweeted afterwards: “A well deserved win for ⁦Holyport, who were well drilled, solid at the back, took their chance well and held onto their lead to final whistle. Rangers bow out of the ⁦FA Cup without ever really getting going.”

Flackwell Heath 4, Keynsham Town 0

Flackwell Heath confidently marched into the next round of the FA Cup after dispatching Keynsham Town 4-0 at Wilks Park.

Keynsham have been ousted from the competition at this stage in each of their last 11 FA Cup campaigns, and Chris Ayres side rounded that up to 12 with a competent display in their first competitive match.

Matty Ayres strike put the home side 1-0 up at the break before Fabian Driffill doubled Flackwell’s advantage early in the second half.

Duarte Surpano then put the gloss on a fine display with his side’s third and fourth goals, the second coming from and excellent run and cross from Colin Mugoy-Tabingwa.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town 1, Windsor 1

Elsewhere Windsor will replay Royal Wootton Bassett Town at Stag Meadow on Tuesday evening after the teams played out a 1-1 draw .

Bailey Gallagher turned in Alfie Presley’s cross to give Town the lead in the 74th minute, but Tyler Robinson headed home Ben Hall’s free kick to level matters a minute from time.

Burnham 1, Easingston Sports 1

Burnham were also denied a place in the next round after Easington Sports scored a late equaliser at the 1878 Stadium.

Rhys Harper fired the home side ahead in the early stages and the Blues also struck the foot of the post from a free-kick as they looked to add to their advantage. however, Easington levelled matters with five minutes to play and the sides will have to replay for a place in the Preliminary round on Tuesday.
