Leeds United got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
Jesse Marsch’s Whites ran out 2-1 winners at Elland Road thanks to a Rodrigo Moreno strike and a Rayan Ait-Nouri own goal.
Leeds fell behind in the sixth minute when Daniel Podence struck after Pedro Neto had raced away from Rasmus Kristensen down the left flank.
However, the Whites equalised in the 24th minute as Rodrigo Moreno slotted past Jose Sa on his weaker foot.
And midway through the second half, the impressive Brenden Aaronson helped claim the winner for Leeds.
The summer signing swept in from close range from a Patrick Bamford cross, though Ait-Nouri got the final touch.
Plenty of Leeds players impressed on the day, including Mateusz Klich.
The 32-year-old came on in the 63rd minute for Rodrigo as Marsch sought to regain some control in the middle of the park.
It proved an inspired substitution, as Klich played a part in the crucial second goal for his side.
The Yorkshire Evening Post gave Klich 8/10 for his efforts.
“Added energy when it was needed, found space, linked play nicely,” they wrote. “Big part in the second goal.”
Leeds Live, meanwhile, gave him 7/10.
“Deserves huge credit for his slide-rule ball for Bamford before the cross into Aaronson’s path,” they wrote.
Klich has been at Leeds since 2017, when he joined from FC Twente in a reported £1.5million deal.
Though his future is uncertain, he’s certainly done his bit for the Whites over the course of his Elland Road career, and continues to do so.
